Evaluation is a method to determine the merit and worth of a program. Often this can be misleading and people say “I don’t think that’s for me — I don’t have a program.” That’s why I interchange program with initiative. Every organization has programs. Think of new training modules, marketing campaigns, expansion of service/product offerings, and social interventions.
All that said, evaluation has many different components, which vary in appropriateness for an initiative based where it is at in its life cycle.
